Some History of Fermanagh's Organised Workers

Workers Memorial Day – Remember the Dead – Fight for the Living
Every year under the auspices of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and FCTU a memorial event is held in the Brook Park
At the Fermanagh Workers Memorial we remember all those who have lost their lives in the course of their occupation whether by injury or disease. The event is also used as a focus for highlighting the need for better health & safety in local workplaces.

Fermanagh Council of Trades Unions (FCTU)
FCTU is the umbrella body which helps the many Trade Union branches and workplaces in the county to co-ordinate their activities in the workplace and community. It meets in Fermanagh House in Enniskillen on a regular basis. It played an important role in the success of demonstrations in support of public sector pay increases and improved services. It performs a similar role in the private sector organising support for workers who are forced to take action.
Further information on its work and meetings can be obtained from
